Zebra Muscles Found on
Cedar Lake,
Wright County, MN

Zebra mussel found in Cedar Lake
On Friday, June 23rd, the Cedar Lake Conservation Club (CLCC) conducted a planned search with Blue Water Science (dive/snorkel and volunteer training) for starry stonewort and zebra mussels. One zebra mussel was found on the north side of Cedar Lake near the Schroeder Park launch. The mussel was mature, almost an inch long.Wright County COLA
The DNR conducted additional searches on Monday, June 26th, however, no additional zebra mussels were found. As soon as possible, CLCC will be conducting a more extensive professional search, and also send lake water samples to a lab to determine if the zebra mussel veligers (microscopic larva) are present. The results of these steps will help determine if Cedar’s infestation is a candidate for a pilot treatment.

This is difficult news, and we cannot emphasis enough the importance of water craft decontamination. Please take advantage of the free watercraft decontamination service available in Annandale if you are moving boats or equipment from lake to lake. The decon site is at 240 Popular Lane South (south of HWY 55  by Classic Rides and Rods). Hours are Mon-Thur 9am to 5pm; Fri-Sun 7am to 7pm.
